The Mariachi Craze! CLINICS are a wonderful new FREE addition to this year’s event! These fun filled Saturdays allow the musicians participating in the Mariachi Craze! workshops time to ask questions on the pieces, receive practice skills/techniques and audition advice from talented and renowned professional musicians from right here in our El Paso community before the auditions take place!

The audition process can be frightening and intimidating but the Mariachi Craze! has in store only the best for its students. The audition process is offered as part of the learning process to aspiring musicians! In essence the student will even learn how to have a strong audition, which will help when applying to college programs, conservatories or even professional ensembles the student may wish to play with in the future!

These auditions will help us at the Mariachi Craze! place you in a class that we feel will benefit you the most based on your musical knowledge and playing skills. We want you to have the best time at our event and that can only happen when you are really learning and not slowing down for or trying to keep up with others.

We assure you that the audition itself will be a safe negative judgment free environment because we only want the student to have the best experience. The auditions will be based on a rubric that will be made available at the preparation clinics so you can see where it is the student needs to work his/her skills the most before the audition!

Main Event Workshops

Thursday & Friday Oct. 6 & 7, 2011 @ El Dorado High School $65 per student

The Mariachi Craze!  workshops are designed to teach all participating students how to approach Mariachi music from a professional 21st century musician’s stand point. In the workshops students will cover many topics including warm ups, etudes and exercises that give the aspiring musician the keys to be able to continuously learn and improve on their instrument for the rest of there lives.

L.A.s own Mariachi Monumental de America and members from El Paso’s own Los Arrieros as well as renowned local professionals will give lessons on interpretation of different styles within the mariachi genre as well as specialized technique on playing the workshop pieces to be performed at the main concert. There will be vocal technique sessions for all students and snacks will be provided for all participants.
